Near Field Communication is the magic
RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) is the successor to the barcode in AutoID. It enables the automation of item ID data collection wirelessly, enabling items to be read simultaneously, without line-of-sight, and at greater speed than barcodes.
RFID is a key to IoT (the Internet of Things) and is allowing inventory, stock, assets, and tools to communicate and be more visible.
NFC is one of the most magical frequencies in the RFID domain. It brings objects, items, posters, and documents all to life, enabling IoT.
NFC readers are a standard feature in most new smartphones, which makes NFC adoption easier than UHF.
Most desktop NFC readers have USB connectivity. They are primarily plug-and-play, and customized applications are available on request. Check out our NFC readers in the e-shop, or talk to us about one that fulfils your needs.
Most standard mobile phones are equipped with NFC modules and can emulate them as readers and tags. Our applications can be downloaded, enabling you to maximize your phone’s NFC capabilities. To verify if your phone supports NFC, check the settings or email us.
Most bank POS/Credit Card machines are NFC capable. NFC payment terminal machines and add-ons are separately available as well, making your existing POS NFC capable, allowing you to receive payments with a single tap.
We proudly service customers with NFC kits and embedded modules for customized applications. Make your existing devices NFC capable or create interactive NFC displays, kiosks or advertising sign boards.
Most NFC readers have standard APIs and drivers, which make them plug-and-play. NFC encryption is inherently stronger and is defined not only by software but also by the choice of tags.
NFC tags communicate over 13.56MHz, using the ISO 14443 type A and B wireless standards. Different tag types offer different storage levels and transfer speeds. Tag types 1 and 2 can store data between just a tiny 48 bytes and 2 kilobytes and can transmit that information at just 106 kbit/s.
Fixed readers dissipate the maximum power to the antenna, thus giving the highest tag accuracy. Usual readers support 2, 4 and 8 antennas, but multiplexers can increase output.
UHF Handheld scanners have become mainstream with a reduction in price and adaptation of iOS and Android.
An antenna is a passive device yet one of the most critical components of an RFID solution. It is tuned to US and EU frequencies and has major scanning orientations, liner or circular.
