As Covid-19 has changed the way we are living today, it will define how we live tomorrow. In our fight against this pandemic there is an important role for technology to play. The need to tag, track and account for supplies, kits, medicines, vaccines, ICU equipment and patients is more eminent than ever.

At 44degNorth we understand the need and are eager to service and support the healthcare industry in Canada in their fight against Covid-19. Below are three use cases where the technology can be put to immediate use.

Testing Kits:

The most effective way to handle the Coronavirus pandemic is to test as many probable and possible citizens showing symptoms of having had any contact with anyone who tested positive. It is a great challenge for the government to procure, distribute and track these kits until used. UHF passive tags on the kits would address issues like:

  • Authenticity
  • Distribution
  • Replenishment
  • Usage

Hospital Isolation Equipment Management:

The patients as they are being treated are often kept in isolation and these rooms require the healthcare professionals to wear a lot of personal protective gear to attend to or enter the rooms. In such a scenario if a machine needs to be located or identified UHF passive tags can assist caregivers from doing so even without entering the room.

Covid-19 Screening/Prevention:

Countries are setting up centers to test and screen covid-19 patients. As this is being done, there is a need to log different steps of the testing, prevention and recovery process. Ideal solution would be app based leveraging gps tracking and NFC tech for data collection and communication. NFC would allow for contact less door opening, attendance logging and id authentication when needed for any purpose.
